Rougarou walk-off the Twins to secure the series sweep

Rougarou secure first walk-off win, 2-1, over Twins

Baton Rouge, La. – July 1, 2019 – The Baton Rouge Rougarou secured the series sweep of the Texarkana Twins with a 2-1 walk-off win on Monday night.

The Rougarou took an early 1-0 lead when Carson Clowers scored on a Brayden Morrow double in the bottom of the first. After four scoreless innings, the Twins tied the score up at 1-1 in the top of the fifth.

In a tied 1-1 game, the Twins had runners on first and third base with one out in the top of the ninth. A Texarkana batter flew out to center fielder Morrow, who then gunned down the runner from third to prevent the Twins from scoring.

Still tied up at 1-1 and Trevor Rugg at third base, Kalun Dronette hit a fielder’s choice to drive Rugg home and walk off the Twins with the final score of 2-1.

The Rougarou take a quick break for the Texas Collegiate League All-Star game on Tuesday night where three Rougarou – Clowers, Logan LeJeune and Luke Baley – will be representing the team. After the All-Star Game, the Rougarou travel to Victoria, Texas, on Friday and Saturday to face the Generals for a two-game series.
