Fordham shines as Rougarou drops game one against the Twins
Texarkana, Texas – July 21, 2019 – The Baton Rouge Rougarou dropped the first game, 3-2, of a two-game set against the Texarkana Twins on Sunday night.
After four scoreless innings, the Rougarou opened scoring in the top of the fifth. Alex Galy singled to drive in Trevor Rugg and give the Rougarou the 1-0 lead. The Rougarou added to their advantage in the top of the sixth when Logan Lejeune scored on a Brennan Lambert double.
The Twins scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to take a 3-2 walk-off win over the Rougarou.
Zach Fordham led the Rougarou, striking out eight batters and allowing only one run on three hits in 8.2 innings pitched. Rugg reached base – a single, walk, and hit by pitch – in three of his four plate appearances, while also notching a run.
The Rougarou close out their series against the Twins on Monday night at 7:05 p.m. in Texarkana, Texas. After the conclusion of the series, the Rougarou return home to host the Victoria Generals.
