Baton Rouge, LA – May 31, 2019 – The Baton Rouge Rougarou celebrated their home opener with fun activities like music chairs, the mascot arm wrestle, base running, watching fireworks, and other fun activities. Despite a late rally, the Rougarou fell short of a comeback losing 16-13 to the Victoria Generals.
After five pitchers pitched on Thursday night agains the Twins, the Rougarou relied on Cortlynn Ramirez Friday night. The University of New Orleans pitcher pitched six innings giving up six runs. Trevor Rugg homered in the third inning giving the Rougarou a 3-1 lead. The Generals took a 6-4 lead in the fifth inning.
From that point, the Generals never gave up their lead. The Generals extended their lead to 11-6 after six innings. The Rougarou put together a late rally in the bottom of the ninth inning, but fell short of comeback losing to the Generals 16-13.
The Rougarou take on the Victoria Generals again at Pete Goldsby Field on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. in the second game of their four game home series. In their second home game, the Rougarou will celebrate Teachers Night where all teachers and former teachers will get one free ticket to the game.
