Baton Rouge, LA – June 5, 2019 – The Baton Rouge Rougarou played the Brazos Valley Bombers in Bryan, Texas on Wednesday night in the last game of their 2 game away stretch. The Rougarou fell to the Bombers 10-4 in a game where the Rougarou got off to a hot start.
The Rougarou took an early 1-0 in the top of the 1st inning after Lukas Polanco hit a single with 2 outs and the bases loaded to score Brennan Lambert. The Bombers responded quickly in the bottom of the 1st inning with 2 runs from 2 singles and a double to give the Bombers a 2-1 lead.
The Rougarou’s offense got hot again in the 3rd inning. Trevor Rugg scored on a single by Lukas Polanco and Reid Baty scored on a single by Bo Barrilleaux. Polanco scored the 3rd run of the inning by coming home on an error by the Bombers. This gave the Rougarou a 4-2 lead after 3 innings. The Bombers scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning from 2 triples and a single and tied the game up at 4.
The Rougarou trailed for the rest of the game after that. The Bombers extended their lead to 9-4 in the bottom of the 6th inning with 2 homeruns, a triple, and a double. The Bombers added another run in the bottom of the 7th inning giving them a 10-4 lead. The Rougarou could not manage to score again and fell to the Bombers 10-4. Rougarou 1st baseman Trevor Rugg went 2-4 with a run and Catcher Lukas Polanco went an impressive 3-4 with 1 run and 2 RBIs.
The Rougarou will return home for their 2-day break before they return to action at Pete Goldsby Field to take on the Victoria Generals on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Saturday night at Pete Goldsby Field is Superhero Night where all First Responders receive one free ticket to the game.
