Bombers take first game of series

College Station, TX - Jun 10, 2019 - A day after the Rougarou notched their first win of the season against the second place Victoria Generals, the team looked poised to steal a game from the TCL leading and undefeated Brazos Valley Bombers. Shea Gutierrez of the University of the Incarnate Word and Scotty Scott of the University of Hawaii joined the Rougarou for their first games.

The Rougarou jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second. Brayden Morrow led off with a single and later scored on a single up the middle from Brennan Lambert. The team was feeling good and hungry for more victories. However, the Bombers struck back in the middle innings.

It all started in the bottom of the fourth when a hard hit ball grazed the glove of first baseman Trevor Rugg and steamed into right field allowing two to score. Then in the fifth, the Bombers add two more runs on a blooper that fell just a few feet in front of the right fielder Logan LeJeune for an additional two runs. To cap it off, the Bombers added three more runs in the bottom of the seventh and took home the win by a final score of 7-1.

LeJeune finished 2-2 with a walk. Ashton Davis came in and pitched a perfect seventh and eighth inning while striking out two.

The loss moves the Rougarou record to 1-10. They’ll head back out to the field tomorrow for a rematch with the Bombers in the two-game series finale.
