Victoria, TX - Jun 14, 2019 - After stealing a game against the second place Generals for the Rougarou’s first win of the season on June 9, the team traveled to Victoria for the first time. Hoping to build on the recent success of winning two of their last five games, players’ spirits were high.
However, it was the Generals who struck first. They scored two runs in the bottom of the first thanks to four straight singles. Another run was added in the second when a Generals runner slid into Logan LeJeune at second who was trying to turn a double play. His throw went wild allowing a runner to cross the plate for a 3-0 Generals lead.
The Generals brought out the big bats in the fourth. The bases were loaded with no outs when a General hit a grand slam to left field. Two more runs scored soon after from three hits, a walk and a hit batter as the Generals took a 9-0 lead.
The Rougarou got on the board in the sixth thanks to Drew Bianco and Logan LeJeune getting on with walks and then coming home on singles by Johnny Johnson and Trevor Rugg. The deficit was now 9-2. Victoria responded with a run in the seventh from two hits for a 10-2 lead.
Both teams scored one more in the eight. Bianco led off with a walk and was hit home by Johnson for the second time. The Generals copied the Rougarou and also led off with a walk. That baserunner eventually scored on a single. The Generals won 11-3.
Bianco finished with two runs. Johnson was 2-4 with two RBIs. Brayden Morrow pitched for the first time in the bottom of the eight, allowing one hit and getting three batters to fly out. The Rougarou are back in action Saturday night against the Generals with a 7:05 P.M. first pitch as they look to even the series.
