Texarkana, TX - Aug 4, 2019 - After yesterday’s game was rained out, the Rougarou traveled to Texarkana to face the Twins for the final time this season in a two-game series with just four games left in the regular season.
Texarkana struck early and often in the game, scoring six runs throughout the first three innings off of five hits, one of them being a two-run home run. The Rougarou responded in the top of the fourth with a run of their own. Logan LeJeune reached base from a Twins’ error. He moved to second on a Drew Bianco single and then third from another Twins’ error. Johnny Johnson brought LeJeune home on a fielder’s choice as the Rougarou trailed 6-1.
Slowly eating away at the deficit, the Rougarou scored again in the top of the sixth as LeJeune was hit home again by Johnson to trail 6-2. The Twins then scored eight runs in the bottom half of the inning to lead 14-2.
A solo blast by Alex Galy in the seventh closed the gap to 14-3. LeJeune scored for a third time in the top of the ninth as Bianco hit him home with a double but the Rougarou fell 14-4.
Bianco finished 3-for-3 with an RBI. LeJeune added three runs while going 2-for-5. Johnson went 1-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.
Baton Rouge will look to split the series tomorrow night against Texarkana before heading home to host the Acadiana Cane Cutters in the final two games of the season on August 6 and 7.
