Texarkana, TX. – August 5, 2019 – The Rougarou played the last game of its two-game road series against the Texarkana Twins on Monday night. Despite a late rally, the Rougarou could not come back and fell to the Twins 6-3.
The Twins got out to an early lead in the second inning scoring four runs and taking a 4-0 lead going into the third. Ashton Davis came in to pitch a scoreless third inning for the Rougarou, but the Twins still held a 4-0 lead going into the fourth.
The Rougarou got on the board in the top of the fourth inning when Alex Galy scored on an RBI by Johnny Johnson to cut the Twins lead to 4-1. The Twins added two more runs in the bottom half extending its lead to 6-1 going into the fifth.
The Rougarou struck again in the top of the sixth with Galy getting on base with a double with one out. He then scored on a single by Cameron Crawford cutting the Twins lead to 6-2 at the end of the sixth inning.
Crawford continued his hitting streak leading off the top of the eighth with a double and Andrew Paige hit him home to reduce the deficit to 6-3. That was the last time the Rougarou scored in the game and were shut down by the Twins in the ninth inning and lost 6-3.
Crawford performed well on Monday night going a perfect 3-for-3 with an RBI. Davis threw six innings on the mound with five strike outs and only two hits.
The Rougarou will be back in Baton Rouge tomorrow for its last series of the season playing against the Acadiana Cane Cutters on Tuesday and Wednesday night both at 7:05 p.m.
