Baton Rouge, La. – August 7, 2019 – The Baton Rouge Rougarou took on the Acadiana Cane Cutters in the last game of its season at Pete Goldsby Field on Wednesday night. A late game rally put the Rougarou over the top against the Cane Cutters in its season finale.
Brooks Southall took the mound for the Rougarou and began the game by pitching four scoreless innings giving up only one hit and striking out five batters. Drew Bianco put the Rougarou on the board in the bottom of the fourth hitting a solo home run to give the Rougarou a 1-0 lead.
The Cane Cutters struck back in the top of the fifth inning scoring four runs and taking a 4-1 lead going into the sixth. The Rougarou cut its deficit to 4-2 with Bianco scoring Cameron Crawford on an RBI single.
Trailing 4-2 going into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Rougarou mounted another comeback that Rougarou fans are so accustomed to seeing this season. Alex Galy singled in the bottom of the seventh scoring Scotty Scott, cutting the Cane Cutters lead to 4-3.
Soon after, Logan LeJeune came up to bat and drilled a two RBI double scoring Galy and Crawford giving the Rougarou a 5-4 lead. LeJeune advanced to third and then scored on a passed ball extending the Rougarou’s lead to 6-4. Bianco scored the final run of the inning on an RBI by Brennan Lambert increasing the lead to 7-4.
Luke Baley came in to pitch two scoreless innings in the eighth and ninth giving the Rougarou a 7-4 win over the Cane Cutters to end the season.
