Baton Rouge, LA – February 13, 2019 – The latest news for the Baton Rouge Rougarou is the addition of two very talented outfielders; Scotty Scott from the University of Hawai’i and J.D. Wadleigh from South Mountain Community College in Phoenix, Arizona.
Scotty Scott just entered his freshman season for the University of Hawai’i after graduating from Cypress Ranch High School in Cypress, Texas. Scott was awarded countless accolades throughout his high school baseball career. He was named Preseason Perfect Game All-American two times, named an All-District outfielder his junior and senior year, earned PG WWBA National Championship All-Tournament Team honors and earned All-State Tournament Team honors after rallying his team through the Texas Region 3 Championship his senior year. Scott ended his career at Cypress Ranch with a .298 batting average, .439 on-base percentage, 31 RBIs and 32 stolen bases.
J.D. Wadleigh is another freshman outfielder that will soon be coming to Baton Rouge. Wadleigh, a 2018 graduate from Liberty High School in Peoria, Arizona is an all-around ball player who was highly ranked in the state of Arizona. In his senior year, J. D. had a .396 batting average, .504 on-base percentage along with 38 total hits. Wadleigh is exceptional on the defensive side of the ball as well. He concluded his final season with a .936 fielding percentage with 36 total putouts while he also locked in for 38 strikeouts and a 1.56 ERA on the mound.
The Rougarou have really been putting the pieces of this roster together in a special and exciting way. Scott and Wadleigh are two great baseball talents that add to the already propitious Rougarou roster. The road to opening day on May 31st just keeps getting better and better.
