After a few days off for the Texas Collegiate League All-Star break, the Brazos Valley Bombers pretty much picked up where they left off Wednesday.
The Bombers (19-7), sitting at first place in the league, handed the Baton Rouge Rougarou a 4-1 loss. It was the sixth win for the Bombers over the Roux in seven meetings this summer.
The Rougarou (9-16) scored their lone run in the top of the sixth inning when Lane Hutchinson walked, stole second, advanced to third on a single by J.T. Taylor and scored on a groundout by Landrey Wilkerson.
Besides that the Rougarou were held to six hits and two walks with only seven runners left on base. Ethan Menard knocked a pair of hits, as did Monray Van der Walt.
Chris Tonna started on the mound for Baton Rouge. He threw five innings, giving up two runs (both earned), five hits, walking one and striking out three. Deonte Dotson threw three innings, giving up two runs (one earned), on two hits. He walked six and struck out two.
The Rougarou travel to Seguin to take on the River Monsters Thursday at 7 p.m. at Smokey Joe Williams Field.
