BATON ROUGE, La. – The Baton Rouge Rougarou continue building their roster for the upcoming 2021 Texas Collegiate League season and today announced the signing of left-handed pitcher Jacob Schellpfeffer and infielder Reagan Paulina, both of which attend Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.
Schellpfeffer hails from Mayville, Wis. and enters his junior season at OU after spending his first two years at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa. In the shortened 2020 season for the ECC Panthers, he started five games going 2-3 with a team-leading 4.70 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 23 innings-pitched. The south paw appeared in 17 games (6 starts) his freshman year with 35 K’s in 41 innings, highlighted by a 14 K effort in 6.2 innings of relief against Iowa Lake CC, allowing no runs and only 4 hits in picking up the win. A four-year letter winner in high school, Schellpfeffer holds both career and single-season pitching records in complete games (19; 10), strikeouts (317; 122) and ERA (1.48; 0.93).
Paulina, a left-handed hitting middle-infielder from Highland, Mich., enters his freshman campaign with the Golden Grizzlies. He attended Detroit Catholic Central High School in Novi, Mich., and although his senior year high school season was cancelled due to the pandemic, he was still a two-year varsity letter winner at shortstop and helped lead the Shamrocks to District and Regional Championships in 2019. Paulina was named to the Detroit Catholic Central All-Decade team in 2020 posted in Prep Baseball Report and was also a 2020 Michigan High School Baseball All-Star Game selection this past summer.
