Rougarou fall to Generals in last game of road series before returning home

Baton Rouge, LA – June 15, 2019 – The Baton Rouge Rougarou played the second game of its two game road series against the Victoria Generals on Saturday night in Victoria, Texas. The Rougarou were able to get out to an early lead, but could not hold onto their lead and lost to the Generals 8-2.  

The Rougarou struck first in the top of the second inning with a rally started by Drew Bianco getting hit by a pitch and stealing second base. Brayden Morrow hit an RBI double scoring Bianco and giving the Rougarou their first run of the game. Morrow then scored on a sacrifice fly by Kyle Boudreaux giving the Rougarou a 2-0 lead after 2 innings.  

The Rougarou held onto their lead until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Generals took a 3-2 lead from 2 hits, 3 walks, and a hit batter. The Generals extended their lead 6-2 by scoring 3 more runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. A solo home run and a sacrifice fly by the Generals increased their lead to 8-2 in the bottom of the eighth inning.  

The Rougarou could not get anything going offensively for the rest of the game and lost 8-2 to the Generals. Austin Haensel started for the Rougarou and pitched 2 scoreless and hitless innings. Reid Baty pitched 3 innings of relief giving up no runs and 1 hit. Brayden Morrow hit well on Saturday night going 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and an RBI.  

Saturday night’s game against the Generals was the Rougarou’s last game of its 2 game road series in Victoria, Texas. The Rougarou return to Pete Goldsby Field on Sunday night to take on the Acadiana Cane Cutters in the first game of the two game home series against the Cane Cutters. Sunday night’s game against the is Service Industry Night where all those in the food service industry get one free ticket to the game.
