Rougarou complete first series sweep of the season

Lafayette, LA – June 23, 2019 – The Baton Rouge Rougarou closed out their two-game series sweep against the Acadiana Cane Cutters with an 8-3 victory. 

The Rougarou took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second as Johnny Johnson scored on a Cortlynn Ramirez single. The Rougarou then scored three runs in the top of the fifth on singles by Brayden Morrow and Drew Bianco to take a 4-0 advantage. The Cane Cutters plated two runs in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 4-2, still in favor of the Rougarou. 

The Rougarou extended their lead to 8-2 when four runs scored on four RBI singles by Trevor Rugg, Lukas Polanco, Ramirez and Morrow. The Cane Cutters plated a run in the bottom of the ninth but the Rougarou secured the 8-3 victory to complete the series sweep. 

Grant Upton earned the win, allowing just two runs and striking out eight batters in six innings pitched. Luke Baley notched the save, striking out a batter in an inning pitched. Ramirez led the Rougarou, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Morrow had a 2-for-4 outing, including a run and two RBI.
