Bryan, TX. – June 24, 2019 – The Rougarou traveled to Bryan, Texas to take on the Brazos Valley Bombers in the first game of its two-game road series against the Bombers. The Rougarou just came off its first series sweep of the season against the Acadiana Cane Cutters beating the Cane Cutters on Saturday and Sunday night.
Cortlynn Ramirez took the mound for the Rougarou on Monday night and pitched seven and a half innings giving up only one run, six hits, and striking out four batters. The Bombers took the first lead of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning scoring one run and making it 1-0.
The Rougarou fought back in the top of the eighth inning with after Cortlynn Ramirez led off with a single. Ramirez then advanced to second base on a wild pitch, got to third base after a throw to second base went into the outfield, and finally scored on an RBI single by Logan LeJeune. This tied the game 1-1 after eight innings.
The game went into extra innings after a scoreless bottom of the ninth pitched by Luke Baley. The Bombers scored one run in the bottom of the 10th inning on a sacrifice fly ball winning the ball game 2-1 and taking the first game of the two-game series. Stevie Szucs had an impressive pitching performance in relief pitching one and a third scoreless innings.
The Rougarou play the Bombers again on Tuesday night in the last game of its two game road series against the Bombers. After that, the Rougarou continue on the road traveling to Lafayette to play the Cane Cutters in a two-game road series before having two days off.
