Rougarou fall to Generals in Victoria despite getting out to an early lead

Victoria, TX. – July 5, 2019 – The Baton Rouge Rougarou traveled to Victoria to play the Generals in its first game since the All-Star break. After getting out to an early lead, the Rougarou could not hold on and fell to the Generals 5-1.  

Jacob Snyder took the mound for the Rougarou on Friday night pitching a scoreless first inning. The Rougarou struck first in the top of the second inning on a one-run homerun by Brennan Lambert to take an early 1-0 lead going into the bottom of the second. The Generals scored one run in the bottom of the second inning to tie the game up 1-1 going into the third.  

The Rougarou loaded the bases in the top of the third inning on a base hit by Austin Haensel and two walks from Scotty Scott and Alex Galy, but the Generals were able to get out of the inning with no runs scored. The Generals extended their lead 2-1 on a sacrifice fly ball in the bottom of the third.  

The Generals scored another run in the bottom of the fourth inning increasing their lead 3-1 after four innings. Another two runs scored for the Generals in the bottom of the fifth inning to increase the Generals lead to 5-1 after 5 innings.  

Kyle Flettrich came in to pitch in the top of the sixth inning and retired the side. The Rougarou were not able to score again and fell to the Generals 5-1. Flettrich pitched three scoreless and hitless innings with three strikeouts. Lukas Polanco had an impressive hitting performance on Friday night going 2-for-4 with two base hits. Logan LeJeune also went 2-for-4 with two base hits.  

The Rougarou are back in action again on Saturday night against the Generals in the last game of its two-game road series. After Saturday night’s game, the Rougarou will return to Baton Rouge for a two-day break before traveling to Texarkana to play the Twins on Tuesday night.
