Baton Rouge, La. – July 26, 2019 – The Baton Rouge Rougarou celebrated Superhero Night at Pete Goldsby Field on Friday night. The Rougarou secured a 6-5 walk-off win against the Texarkana Twins in the series finale.
After a scoreless first inning to start the game, Scotty Scott tripled down the third base line to drive home Cam Crawford in the bottom of the second to give the Rougarou a 1-0 lead. The Twins scored a run to tie the score up at 1-1 in the top of the third. The Rougarou responded in the bottom of the frame as Logan LeJeune scored on a double by Lukas Polanco to make the score 2-1.
The Twins knotted the score at 2-2 after plating a run in the top of the fifth. The Twins took a 4-2 lead in the seventh inning as they drove in two runs. The Rougarou scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth on a Brennan Lambert sacrifice bunt and a Johnny Johnson groundout to tie the game at 4-4.
Headed into extra innings, the Twins scored a run in the top of the tenth to take a 5-4 lead. The Rougarou responded in the bottom of the frame as Reid Baty scored on a LeJeune sacrifice fly to knot the score at 5-5.
With bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the thirteenth inning, Bryan Aguilar walked to drive home Alex Galy and secure the 6-5 walk-off win against the Twins.
Aguilar led the Rougarou, going 4-for-5 with the game winning RBI. Baty pitched 2.1 scoreless innings in relief to shut down the Twins in extra innings.
The Rougarou hit the road for a two-game set against the Victoria Generals on Saturday and Sunday.
