Baton Rouge, La. – July 31, 2019 – The Baton Rouge Rougarou celebrated Salute the Troops Night on Wednesday night at Pete Goldsby Field. The Rougarou opened their two-game set against the Texarkana Twins with a 6-4 triumph.
The Rougarou took an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first as an RBI double by Cam Crawford and two RBI double by Alex Galy drove home three runs. The Twins responded in the top of the second, scoring two runs to make the score 3-2, in favor of the Rougarou.
The Rougarou added on to their 4-2 lead, adding one run on a RBI single by Scotty Scott in the bottom of the fourth. Galy singled to drive home two runs in the bottom of the sixth and put the Rougarou up 6-2. The Twins responded with two runs in the top of the seventh but the Rougarou held on to secure the 6-4 victory.
Scott led the Rougarou, going 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI, while Galy followed closely behind with a 2-for-5 performance including four RBI. Starting pitcher Kyle Flettrich allowed two runs on five hits while striking out two Twins in six innings pitched.
The Rougarou continue their two-game series against the Twins on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. (CT) at Pete Goldsby Field. Thursday night will be Thirsty Thursday, where fans can enjoy $1 beer all night. The Rougarou then continue their homestand, hosting the Brazos Valley Bombers on Friday and Saturday.
