Rougarou celebrate last Thirsty Thursday of season

Payton Alexander hits first home run as a Rougarou

Baton Rouge, La. – August 1, 2019 – The Baton Rouge Rougarou hosted their last Thirsty Thursday night of the season. The Rougarou closed their two-game set against the Texarkana Twins, falling 4-2 at Pete Goldsby Field on Thursday night.  

The Rougarou took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first as Drew Bianco singled to drive in Scotty Scott. Payton Alexander jacked a solo home shot off the scoreboard in the bottom of the second to extend the Rougarou advantage to 2-0. 

The Twins scored a run in each of the fourth and fifth frames to tie the game at 2-2. The Twins then took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh before securing the 4-2 win over the Rougarou in the bottom of the eighth. 

Alexander led the Rougarou, going 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run. Starting pitcher Brooks Southall allowed three runs on six hits, while striking out five batters in seven innings pitched. 

The Rougarou continue their homestand, hosting the Brazos Valley Bombers for a two-game series on Friday and Saturday.
