Baton Rouge, La. – August 6, 2019 – The Baton Rouge Rougarou secured a 7-6 walk-off victory over the Acadiana Cane Cutters on Tuesday night at Pete Goldsby Field.
The Cane Cutters opened scoring in the top of the first, scoring two runs to take a 2-0 lead. The Rougarou answered in the bottom of the frame, scoring a run on a Cam Crawford sacrifice fly to cut their deficit to 2-1.
The Rougarou then took the 3-2 lead in the second inning on a Crawford two-RBI single. After a scoreless inning, the Cane Cutters scored a run in the fourth inning to tie the game at 3-3. The Cane Cutters plated two more runs in the fifth inning to take a 5-3 lead.
The Rougarou cut their deficit to 5-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Payton Alexander scored on a Johnny Johnson RBI single. The Rougarou then knotted the score at 5-5 in the seventh inning when Brennan Lambert hit a sacrifice fly to drive Logan Lejeune home.
After a scoreless eighth inning, the Cane Cutters plated a run in the top of the ninth to take a 6-5 lead. Alexander hit a two-RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to secure the 7-6 walk-off win for the Rougarou.
Five Rougarou – Alex Galy, Lejeune, Lambert, Alexander and Johnson – all notched two hits on the night.
The Rougarou close out their series against the Cane Cutters and close out their season on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. (CT) at Pete Goldsby Field.
