BATON ROUGE, La. – The Baton Rouge Rougarou announced today the addition of infielders Nick Cupp-Allen and Patrick Donovan to their 2021 roster. Both are Arizona natives who attend Chandler-Gilbert Community College (CGCC) in Chandler, Arizona. CGCC is a member of the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference, one of the few conferences who use wood bats during their season.
Cupp-Allen, a 6’3”, 185 lb. shortstop from Gilbert, Ariz., enters his third year playing for CGCC but is still classified as a sophomore due to the cancellation of the majority of the 2020 season. In 19 games last season for the Coyotes, Cupp-Allen hit .292 with 3 doubles and 8 RBI while also scoring 14 runs and going 16-of-18 in stolen bases. During his freshman campaign in 2019, Cupp-Allen appeared in 34 games hitting at a .297 clip with 4 doubles and drove in 20. The speedy infielder scored 22 runs and stole 22 bags, being thrown out only one time the entire season.
Donovan, a 6’2”, 195 lb. redshirt freshman from Scottsdale, Ariz., originally committed to Vanguard University (Costa Mesa, Calif.) before transferring to CGCC. A 2018 graduate of Pinnacle High School (Phoenix, Ariz.), Donovan helped lead the Pioneers to a 2017 Class 6A State Runner-up finish and had 2 RBI in their 6-4 loss in the championship game. Coming out of high school, Perfect Game rated the left-handed hitting Donovan as the states 51st overall prospect and third-ranked 3rd baseman.
