The Baton Rouge Rougarou rocked the Seguin River Monsters for 15 hits and took advantage of 9 walks on the way to a 10-4 victory Thursday night at Smokey Joe Williams Field. The Rougarou is now 2-1 after back-to-back wins at Seguin.
Every batter in the lineup had at least one hit and all but one walked or was hit by a pitch at least once. Three Sequin errors also helped the Rougarou.
Elliot Hebert led the onslaught with four hits, drove in two runs and scored four. J.T. Taylor went 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Lane Hutchinson went 2-for-4 with a double, drove in one run and scored two. Leadoff batter Derrald Moore Jr. had one hit but also was hit by a pitch twice and walked once. He also stole two bases.
The Rougarou pitching staff held Seguin to five hits and struck out 15. They had a combined no-hitter through six innings. Gage Bihm got the start and the win after throwing three hitless innings and striking out five. Landry Alligood pitched two hitless and scoreless innings. Sonny Brandwood and Christopher Tonna closed it out with two scoreless innings apiece.
The River Monsters scored all of their runs in the third inning on a flurry of walks and hit batters, and one unusual bases-clearing wild pitch on a ball four.
The Rougarou will be back in action Friday at the Victoria Generals at Riverside Stadium. Game time is 7 p.m.
