The tables turned in Texas for the Baton Rouge Rougarou Monday night.
One night after thrashing the River Monsters 11-4, the Victoria Generals pounded 11 hits and held the Rougarou to two singles and a triple in a 12-3 victory at Riverside Stadium.
The Rougarou (12-14 overall) were on the wrong end of a no-hitter until the top of the seventh inning when Davis Meche singled to lead off the inning. After Joshua Shelly and Trevor Durr walked to load the bases, Banks Byers singled to score Meche and Shelly.
Baton Rouge added one more run in the top of the eighth inning when Will Safford tripled and scored on a grounder to first by T.J. Grines.
That was all the offense the Rougarou could generate against the Generals, who scored four runs in the first inning, five in the second and three in the fourth. Victoria pitchers walked four and struck out 10.
The Rougarou sent five pitchers to the mound, who walked 12 and struck out seven. Starter Kade Linn took the loss.
The team heads back to Baton Rouge but will not play again until Friday night when it will host the Brazos Valley Bombers at Goldsby Field at 7 p.m. Baton Rouge will host the TCL All-Star Game, featuring Team Texas against Team Louisiana, which includes several Rougarou players, Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. at Alex Box Stadium.
