Wes Theriot was named head coach of the Baton Rouge Rougaroo by new owner Ronnie Rantz in March of 2022.
The veteran local coach was elevated to head coach of The Dunham School baseball program since Novemeber 11, 2020. He has taught physical education and served as an assistant coach at Dunham since December of 2019.
Prior to joining Dunham, he served as athletic director, upper school administrator, head baseball coach, and assistant football coach at Central Private School. From 2007-2011, he covered the southeast territory for Beverly Hills Sports Council, one of the largest sports management companies in the U.S. He later served as business manager at Toxicological and Environmental Associates, Inc., for seven years before following his calling to teach and coach. He also has worked on staffs for Team USA.
Coach Theriot holds a bachelor’s degree from Southeastern Louisiana University, where he finished his college baseball playing career after stops at Panola College and Louisiana-Lafayette. The Baton Rouge native graduated from Broadmoor High School.
“Wes Theriot has long been held in the highest esteem among the baseball community,” says Dunham Director of Athletics Neil Weiner. “He has worked with major league baseball draft picks, the USA Baseball National Team, and, in his first year as a prep baseball head coach, led his team to the state finals.”
Theriot’s first foray into summer league ball comes as head of the Rougaroo.
“I am overly excited about this opportunity to coach the Rougarou. We have an outstanding staff and will bring an entertaining brand of baseball to Baton Rouge and the Texas Collegiate League,” said Theriot.
Wes has two daughters, Kate and Reese.
