The Baton Rouge Rougarou finally faced a new opponent Thursday night at Pete Goldsby Field, but they faced familiar troubles on the way to an 8-3 loss to the Victoria Generals.
After spotting the Generals (6-3) one run in the third inning, Baton Rouge scored three in the bottom of the frame. But that was all the Rougarou could rustle up. Victoria scored four runs in the top of the sixth and three in the top of the ninth.
The Rougarou (4-4) managed six hits against five Victoria pitchers, all singles. No one recorded an RBI as the Rougarou runs came courtesy of one Victoria error and a pair of wild pitches. Not even eight walks helped the Rougarou cause.
The Generals, meanwhile, got eight hits off of four Rougarou pitchers, who collectively walked eight and struck out six.
The Generals will return to Pete Goldsby Field Friday night at 7 p.m.
