Some days, the baseball cleat is on the other foot.
Roughly 24 hours after the Baton Rouge Rougarou shut out the Acadiana Cane Cutters in Baton Rouge, the Cane Cutters turned the tables on the Rougarou. Acadiana held the Rougarou to one hit and rolled to a 7-0 win at Fabacher Field in Youngsville.
A contingent of four Cane Cutter pitchers held the Rougarou at bay, giving up a lone single to Jacob Keys in the fourth inning. They walked seven and struck out 14.
The Rougarou’s pitchers were more generous, giving up eight hits, walking 11 and striking out eight. The Rougarou also committed two errors.
Baton Rouge’s only threat came in the eighth inning when Nicolas Schwing, Dathan Cummings and Jack Marcantel all walked, but the bases were left loaded when Keys grounded out.
Both teams will return to Baton Rouge Sunday night for the final matchup of the series at 7 p.m. at Pete Goldsby Field.
