The Abilene Flying Bison ended a four-game losing streak while the Baton Rouge Rougarou extended theirs to three games Tuesday night in Abilene.
The Flying Bison held the Rougarou hitless through four innings and scoreless through five on the way to a 7-3 win. The Rougarou’s last win was on June 18 when they defeated the Bison, 6-5, in the first ever meeting between the two teams.
Tuesday night went more the way of the Bison. Abilene pounded 13 hits off of three Rougarou pitchers who walked three and struck out three. One of those was a 2-run home run by Phoenix Meza that capped the scoring in the eighth inning.
The Rougarou were held to six hits, two by Josh Lim, who scored the team’s first run on a hit, a stolen base, a fly ball and a wild pitch in the sixth inning. Jack Marcantel broke up the Bison no-hitter in the fifth but was thrown out at second.
The Rougarou put together a late rally, scoring two runs in the top of the ninth on a single by Jordan Ard, a walk to Brock Louque, a single by Hayes Hebert and a single by Lim.
