The Baton Rouge Rougarou closed out the 2025 Texas College League season Sunday night with a tough 9-1 loss to the Victoria Generals at Pete Goldsby Field.

But, as they say, it ain't over until it's over.

The Rougarou will host the Acadiana Cane Cutters Tuesday night to begin the best-of-three season championship series. The winner will face the Texas champion for the title on Saturday, August 2. The Rougarou would host if they qualify.

Baton Rouge finished the regular season with the best record in the TCL, a franchise high 37 wins against 10 losses, and won both the first half and the second half  Louisiana Division championships to secure homefield advantage in the playoffs.

"37-10 on the season and first in the TCL broke a lot of records and made history for the Rougarou as the best season yet for this program," first-year coach Stephen Klein said. "These guys have been grinding their tails off the whole summer and I'm excited for the future. I told the guys, three games is all we need to win the first-ever TCL championship and bring it to Baton Rouge. The best part about it is that we get to do it on our own home field since we clinched home field advantage all the way through."

Sunday's regular season finale was not the team's best outing. The Rougarou managed only four hits. Saturday night's hero Dalton Wilson scored the lone run in the bottom of the seventh inning thanks to a couple of walks and a single by Sebastian Huerta, who had two hits on the night.

The rest was all Victoria. After three scoreless innings, the Generals scored five runs in the top of the fourth and built on their lead with one run in the fifth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh.  Victoria pounded 12 hits off of four Rougarou pitchers.  Garrett Hill, Myles Green, Peyton Purdue and Trey Flettrich collectively walked six and struck out nine.
