The Baton Rouge Rougarou were held to two hits as the Acadiana Cane Cutters piled on for a 15-1 win Saturday night at Pete Goldsby Field.
Nicolas Schwing flared a single to right field in the fifth inning and Ty Simonelli dropped another one in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Rougarou’s lone run crossed home in the bottom of the first inning after Brock Louque and Taylor Walters drew walks and stole second and third. Louque scored on a sacrifice fly by Jacob Keys.
But that was all the Rougarou could produce against a trio of Acadiana pitchers who struck out seven and walked three.
The Cane Cutters (10-6) pounded 13 hits off of five Rougarou pitchers who collectively walked 12 and hit four, and struck out seven. Acadiana held a slim 3-1 lead heading into the ninth inning before scoring 12 runs on five hits, five walks, an error, two hit batters, a wild pitch, and a passed ball.
The Rougarou (7-8) will travel to Youngsville to play the Cane Cutters Sunday at 7 p.m. at Fabacher Field.
