The Baton Rouge Rougarou found a late spark Saturday night in Victoria, Texas, coming back from a 9-3 deficit to cut the Generals' lead to 2. But the Rougarou rally fizzled in the top of the ninth with bases loaded and the Generals got away with a 9-7 win.
The Generals had pulled away from a 3-3 tie in the second inning with two runs, then added three in the third and one more in the fourth.
Baton Rouge began its comeback attempt in the top of the fifth with a Ty Simonelli double, a Trip Dobson RBI triple and a wild pitch that made the score 9-5.
The Rougarou didn't strike again until the top of the ninth. Simonelli led off the inning with a single, Dobson walked and Jacob Keys reached on an error. Simonelli scored on a walk to Jack Marcantel and Dobson scored on a wild pitch. Ryder Molea walked to re-load the bases, but the runners were left stranded by a strike out.
Baton Rouge finished with eight hits. Simonelli, Dobson and Marcantel all had two. Hayes Hebert had two RBIs. The Rougarou were issued 10 walks.
The Generals finished with 11 home runs, including two home runs
