The Baton Rouge Rougarou stayed hot as they ntered the home stretch of the 2025 Texas Collegiate League season, rolling to an 11-4 win over the Lake Charles Gumbeaux Gators Tuesday night at Pete Goldsby Field.
It was the seventh consecutive win for the Rougarou, who improved to 13-6 in the second half of the season and 33-9 overall. The Rougarou is the first and, so far, only team to reach 30 wins this season.
The Rougarou spotted Lake Charles a 1-0 lead with one unearned run in the top of the first inning before making their move in the fourth inning with six runs. They added five runs in the seventh to take an 11-1 lead before Lake Charles scored two in the eighth and one in the ninth.
Baton Rouge ace Fabian Hernandez recorded his seventh win -- with no losses. He held the Gators to one unearned run on three hits, walked none and struck out 10 in five innings. Garrett Hill gave up two runs, both earned in three innings, striking out three. Caleb Ougel gave up one run on two hits, walked one and struck out one in the final frame.
The Rougarou knocked nine hits and were issued nine walks off of four Lake Charles pitchers. Bennett Clement and Sebastian Huerta had two hits, including a double by Clement. Huerta and Matt Keller both drove in a pair of runs. Jhonnatan Ferrebus, making his Rougarou debut, got one hit, one RBI and scored two runs.
The Rougarou will travel to Lake Charles on Wednesday, return home on Thursday, then go back to Lake Charles on Friday to face the Gumbeaux Gators. The Rougarou will close out the regular season Saturday and Sunday at home against the Victoria Generals before opening their playoff run on Tuesday.
