After a rainout on Thursday, the Baton Rouge Rougarou traded in umbrellas for brooms to sweep the Seguin River Monsters in a doubleheader at Pete Goldsby Field on Friday.

The Rougarou took the first game 13-5 for its 30th win of the season. It's the first time in program history that the team has won 30 games in the Texas Collegiate League. Baton Rouge went on to win the second game 7-2.

The extra day off was good for the team, according to Rougarou skipper Stephen Klein.

"It helped a lot for our guys to recover," Klein said. "Great wins all around (and) 30 wins for the year (is a) great milestone."

Game One

Blaise Priester got the Rougarou started with his eighth home run of the season, a solo shot in the first inning. After scoring one run in the second and one in the fourth for a 3-1 lead, the River Monsters scored three in the top of the fifth to take a 4-3 lead.

But the Rougarou rallied for nine runs in the bottom of the fifth to make it 12-4. The River Monsters scored one more in the top of the sixth and Baton Rouge added one in the bottom of the frame to make it 13-5.

The Rougarou needed only eight hits -- three for extra bases -- as Seguin's pitchers walked five batters, hit four and committed two errors to go along with a slew of wild pitches.

Dathan Cummings went 2-for-2 including a run-scoring double and drove in three runs on the day. Josh Shelly also had two hits for the Rougarou  and two RBIs. Casey Artigues drove in a pair of runs.

Tristan Perry got the start on the mound, throwing 4 2/3 innings. He allowed three runs on five hits, walked none and struck out two. Trey Flettrich pitched 2 1/3 innings in relief, giving up two runs on two hits, walking one and striking out three.

Game Two

The Rougarou needed only six hits to finish the sweep with a 7-2 win. Dalton Wilson was the hot hitter of the day as only batter with more than one hit and he accounted for four RBIs on the day. He hit a bases-loaded triple in the bottom of the second inning to get the Rougarou going.

Seguin's pitching woes continued in the second game with five walks and five hit batters.

Rougarou starter Larson Fabre went six innings, allowing one run on two hits, walking two and striking out six. Caleb Ougel threw the final two innings, giving up one run on two hits, walking none and striking out four.
